Interference patterns have always fascinated me. I first started learning about them when I was taking a Physics class with Dr. Tung Jeong. He was an amazing teacher who made Physics fun. His work with holography was what really amazed me, and I would spend long periods of time just looking at the holograms in display outside the classroom. Dr. Jeong would show us how interference patterns were like waves that would criss cross. I have made lots of holograms over the years but I was always limited to small images because of the need for everything to be perfectly still. The hologram has inference patterns that recreate the light wave that first hit the film when it was exposed. I love the depth that is created in the hologram and I have always wanted to try and recreate that same thing in my paintings. The screens that I use seem to have a similar visual effect on the viewer and the more I played with this idea the more I like what I was seeing. I feel like I am starting down a new path and the journey is just beginning.
